A Snapshot of Port Isabel’s Business Community
Port Isabel is situated in eastern Cameron County on the shoreline of the Laguna Madre Bay and just 2.6 miles from South Padre Island.
Port Isabel is home to a Texas Historical Commission State Historic Site. The Port Isabel Lighthouse is open daily (weather permitting). Visitation and ticket sales are tracked, and zip codes collected. The Lighthouse is in the heart of downtown and serves to drive the visitors to support our local businesses. The City of Port Isabel manages the site.

Lighthouse Ticket Sales
Ticket sales at the Lighthouse and the Port Isabel Historical Museum are tracked by age. Data is available upon request. This is helpful to gauge traffic trends to Port Isabel's business district.

About the Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation
The Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation (PIEDC) is a non-profit 4B corporation governed by a Board of Directors and operated under the direction of the Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation Director and Administrator.
Project Funding
PIEDC utilizes half of 1% from the local sales tax which is then committed to funding projects and initiatives for the City of Port Isabel’s Economic Development benefit. Because of the tourism nature of our community and region, in addition to workforce training and business incentives, the PIEDC has flexibility to contribute to projects that enhance the aesthetic and cultural value of our City such as:
