City of Port Isabel Operations to Continue with Social Distancing & Enhanced Protective Measures

As the City of Port Isabel monitors the impact of COVID-19, we continue to have confidence in the ability of our government agencies, the medical community and, most importantly, our community to overcome the challenges posed by this disease.

To date there are no cases reported in Port Isabel or the Laguna Madre area.

We urge all residents and visitors to exercise prudence, and to use their own personal judgment in conducting the activities of their daily lives. The City of Port Isabel salutes all first responders and remains committed to facing the challenges of COVID-19 with steadiness, resolve and actions appropriate to our community. In that vein, we are making the following announcement:

In order to preserve city operations and protect public safety, the City of Port Isabel is restricting public access to City buildings, effective March 15 and continuing until April 6 or further notice. City employees will continue to provide services by telephone, email, drop boxes or limited building lobby access. Employees will work in shifts to minimize the potential for any disruption in services should an employee be exposed to or diagnosed with the COVID-19 disease.

ANIMAL SHELTER/CODE ENFORCEMENT
Closed, but animal control services will continue. 956/943-3888.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT
The lobby will remain open during regular business hours. The office is closed to public. Drop box open, phones and e-mail available for permits. Inspections will be done by appointment only. 956/943-0714 or building@copitx.com.

CITY EVENTS
The following events will be canceled: Museums’ of Port Isabel Telling Our Stories, Port Isabel Antique & Flea Market, Queen Isabella Market Day. 956/943-7602 or museumdirector@copitx.com.

CITY HALL AND FINANCE DEPARTMENT
The lobby will remain open during regular business hours. The offices are closed to the public. Drop box is open 24 hours a day. Available by phone and e-mail. Late payment fees for garbage will be waived through April 15. 956/943-2682 or salcocer@copitx.com.

COMMUNITY CENTER

EMS
Open, to continue as normal. Please advise dispatch if you have respiratory symptoms, a fever that has persisted or significant recent travel.

EVENT & CULTURAL CENTER

Open.

GARBAGE COLLECTION
